Why I'm posting on theFrontSteps.com and .org

The biggest reason, I get a TON of traffic on .com, as well as referrals, and frankly I need to keep food on the table. There are also a lot of people begging me to shut this site down and go back to .com. I won't do it. I think there is major potential for this social network and I'm not giving up on it, and by continuing to gain and increase traffic on .com, I can direct a lot of it over here. Maybe this way I can please everyone...not possible, but I'm trying.

The goal of this site has been to create a community rather than a powerful blog. The blog is only one tiny piece of the puzzle over here. There is much greater potential for interaction and exchange on this network. It's just going to take some time. Your patience is appreciated.

I love this site and have so many ideas for posting on it although I've been a bit busy lately. I really appreciate this site for connecting the new school Bay area Realtors who are internet-savvy. I agree that it will grow over time. I think it's going to be a wonderful resource for all of us.

In other news, when's the happy hour?

(I'm actually serious about happy hour, I like online social networking but at some point I like to meet my internet friends face-to-face. If people think it's a good idea, I'll help plan it - in the city of course.)

just change the .com to resolve to this .org so that site doesn't exist anymore. that will help move the traffic.

Farrah,

In due time. Need to get settled. It will happen, and I agree. Nice to put faces with online names.

James,

No can do. I had that when I initially launched this and had all .com pointing to here, but posts like this: http://thefrontsteps.com/category/market-info/new-developments/one-... are lost forever. That is the reason I switched it back. Getting rid of those past posts that not only increase traffic, but referrals was like taking that last year of hard work and flushing it down the toilet.

.org and .com will be two separate entities that I manage. It's easy enough to copy/paste my posts for a while. I'm okay with .com being "the blog", but I really want .org to be the "social network". Two distinct entities. And in order to keep food on the table, I simply can't kill .com as we know it. I tried, but it's not ready to die yet.

Apparently the host I use for this platform is working on a more robust blogging environment. Until that happens, expect my posts to continue to be duplicated on .com.

I'd like to remind everyone that this site is not supposed to be about me and theFrontSteps, rather the community of theFrontSteps, which is all of you! Keep sharing, keep posting, keep conversing. We're growing.

Those numbers don't appear to be totally accurate, but the gist is spot on!
